Welcome at the University of Bonn and the Department of Economics!

We are very pleased that you (will) spend your semester abroad at the Department of Economics of the University of Bonn. Our service for students from abroad is divided into two parts:

  • The International Office is responsible for enrolment, language courses, accommodation and the social program.
  • The International Coordinator of the Department of Economics provides guidance with regard to the academic part of your stay at the University of Bonn.

Course Selection

At the Department of Economics courses can basically be chosen freely, i.e. without previous registration. The Bachelor program is mainly in German although there will be some courses offered in English each semester. The Master program is completely taught in English.

The current course overview for each term can be found on BASIS. If you want to learn more about the course content there is a detailed course discription of all lectures offered in the Bachelor and the Master. For each course students receive 7.5 ECTS.

You should clarify with your home institution what courses will be accepted and fit into your study program. If you have any questions please contact us via E-Mail or call us.

First steps before and after your arrival at Bonn

The International Office will provide you with general information to help you plan and prepare for your time as a student at the University of Bonn. Above all, you will find practical information regarding the necessary formalities before and after your arrival in Bonn including enrolment, housing and language courses. Additionally, there will be a program of events to help you socialize with your fellow international and German students.

For further information visit the website of the International Office and have a look at the Erasmus Student Guide. We look forward to welcoming you at the University of Bonn and our Department of Economics.
